Our tomorrow is built on a firm foundation. Here at Balfour Beatty, we’re on our way to leading every market we’re in, and we have the strategy and momentum to get there. Join our Enabling Functions team as a Responsible Sourcing Advisor - Flexible Location and you’ll be part of it.

What you'll be doing

  • Work to implement in Resource Efficiency measures with our supply chain partners, to help us achieve our target of zero avoidable waste in the UK by 2040.
  • Work to identify and supporting the adoption of new initiatives and improved practices to improve resource efficiency.
  • Support the Procurement and Commercial teams to embed sustainability into supply chain agreements considering carbon, biodiversity, ethics and community engagement.
  • Lead upskilling sessions on sustainability topics for internal stakeholders and Small and Medium Enterprises.
  • Set-up and provide leadership to the Resource Efficiency Community of Practice.
  • Identify best practices, support knowledge sharing, including the development of case studies and other internal communication materials. 

Subject matter expertise

Passion for resource efficiency including circular economy, closed loop practices and re-use.

Who we're looking for

Essential

  • Knowledge of UK and Regional Government sustainable procurement legislation
  • Have experience working with commercial supply chains and procurement functions
  • Good knowledge of social, ethical and environment sustainability issues
  • Stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Have a business mindset and commercial awareness
  • Proficiency in IT and ability to adapt to using new IT based platforms
  • Some UK travel required.

Preferable

  • Relevant qualifications in environmental sustainability
  • You do not need to come from a construction, infrastructure or engineering background. We encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds with an interest and willingness to learn about infrastructure.
