Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust are recruiting for a Sustainability Officer.
Job summary
The Trust runs a proactive programme to manage its sustainability performance. The post holder will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the sustainability strategy for the Trust. This will include supporting the tasks required to ensure compliance with related legislation, regulations, codes of practices and technical guidance; developing the relevant policies and performance targets for the Trust. They will also be required to support the development of the Trust's Sustainability Strategy, including the annual completion of the Sustainable Development Assessment Tool (or relevant NHSi/E tool), and the maintenance of the Sustainable Development Management Plan.The role will have responsibility for supporting the breadth of sustainability issues at the Trust, however has a specific responsibilities and focus on the areas of; sustainable travel; green spaces; air quality; and staff engagement.
Main duties of the job
The Sustainability Officer supports the Trust's sustainability strategy by ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, developing policies, and setting performance targets. Key responsibilities include coordinating the Sustainable Development Management Plan (SDMP), managing sustainability data, and leading initiatives in sustainable travel, air quality, and green spaces. The role involves conducting travel surveys, developing cycle infrastructure, and implementing air quality monitoring programs. Additionally, the officer manages social media content, leads the Sustainability Champions programme, and designs sustainability campaigns. They also support and mentor team members, manage contractors, and develop stakeholder engagement plans, promoting partnerships with travel providers and local authorities. Compliance with Trust policies, health and safety standards, and promoting equality and diversity are also essential duties.
