Our Team

Our Sustainability team specialises in helping client organisations to measure, manage and reduce energy consumption, carbon emissions and achieve wider sustainability aims. Our services include, but are not limited to:
  • Delivery of city/regional carbon reduction programmes;
  • Development of carbon management strategies, including Net Zero strategies;
  • Carbon footprint and greenhouse gas reporting, and associated ESG disclosures;
  • Identification and assessment of energy saving opportunities and investment case support;
  • Green building certification assurance on real estate capital projects;
  • Estates decarbonisation plan and heat decarbonisation plans; and
  • Net Zero programme management and delivery.

Our specialist sustainable Cities & Workplaces team is growing in response to rising demand from private and public sector organisations. We are seeking individuals with experience and knowledge in building certification, and/or real estate decarbonisation to boost our resources.

Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Senior or Principal Consultant to join our sustainability team. The role will be to help lead our growing Life Cycle Assessment team in the UK, with a focus on the holistic environmental impact of materials. Supported by our wider UK and international teams, who have helped define the Net Zero Carbon agenda globally. There will be a strong emphasis on business development and industry leadership where you will be supported by the management team. You will be required to quickly assimilate the innovative services we have developed so that you can use these to promote our services and wider capacity in the market.

Working closely with colleagues of various disciplines, you will design, analyse, report, model and document sustainability projects as well as present to clients with the aim of expanding the sustainability project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing delivery of life cycle carbon consultancy projects and bids
  • Supporting clients in setting suitable decarbonisation targets and outlining a route to achieving these.
  • Supporting senior team members in the successful delivery of projects;
  • Liaison with clients, project partners and key stakeholders
  • Appraisal of building fabric and materials
  • Writing technical summary reports and detailed technical reports
  • Analysis of large datasets, condensing into robust and digestible outputs
  • Supporting both junior level consultants and senior colleagues
  • Internal quality assurance
  • Recommending key low carbon measures to clients and designers.
  • Presenting results to clients

Skills: Whole Life carbon experience essential
  • Good knowledge of the building design and construction process and appraisal of building fabric and materials
  • Experience of using OneClick LCA, etool or similar
  • Training and supporting staff in WLCA modelling.
  • Experience with undertaking Lifecyle Assessment (LCA) studies for BREEAM, Greater London Authority (GLA), LEED, or other LCA scoping mechanisms.
  • Preparing and leading tenders and proposals for new work.
  • Supply chain management capability
  • Supporting clients in setting suitable decarbonisation targets and outlining a route to achieving these.
  • Developing and delivering whole life carbon reduction strategies for a variety of scoping mechanisms (e.g., Greater London Authority, LETI & RIBA, BREEAM etc.).
  • Liaise directly with clients and designers to recommend key low carbon measures and support the drive to decarbonisation.

Qualifications
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in engineering, architecture, or the built environment, you will show demonstrable knowledge of building materials and embodied carbon. You will possess comprehensive knowledge of the quantification of environmental impacts, EPDs and environmental science.
  • Experience delivering lifecycle or whole life carbon modelling or similar services within a related industry;
  • Knowledge of whole life cycle carbon assessments
  • Demonstrated experience in advising on and integrating low carbon and resilient solutions into building design.
  • Commercial awareness for business development, marketing, and proposal preparation.
  • Given the collaborative and client focussed nature of this role, excellent communication skills and experience of using your initiative to overcome challenges are essential.
