Job Title: Sustainability Consultant (Environmental focus)
Location: London (hybrid working, 2-3 days in the office)
Salary: £ 35k - £40K
Hours: Full-time 37.5 hours p/w

What We're Looking For

We are looking for passionate Sustainability Consultant to join our growing masterplanning and sustainability team.
We are looking for someone with knowledge of environmental sustainability (e.g. climate resilience, resource management, biodiversity, pollution mitigation), experience with BREEAM assessments (minimum of 2 years), producing sustainability statements for planning, and with an interest in undertaking environmental impact assessments. The candidate will apply this experience and knowledge to masterplans and building level projects with renowned developers across the UK and abroad.

The role will include (but not limited to):
• Undertaking ESG and sustainability strategies for projects and in support of planning applications,
• Advising project teams on BREEAM-related queries,
• Tracking progress and reporting on achieving sustainability objectives,
• Attending community engagement workshops and co-design approach to sustainability with key stakeholders,
• Attending design team meetings and advise on sustainable design and construction approaches,
• Assisting in delivering environmental impact assessment for climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, materials and waste for masterplans,
• Co-ordination with design teams to prepare sustainability planning deliverables, including energy and sustainability statements, and
• Undertaking research on innovative approaches to sustainability and regenerative design and development.

Professional qualifications and core knowledge
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in environmental science, ecology, geography, architecture/urban design, sustainability, engineering, or related discipline;
• Technical knowledge and experience in BREEAM and similar environmental standards;
• Experience in navigating policy context for submitting planning applications;
• A broad knowledge of environmental and social sustainability themes;
• Chartered with a professional body (e.g. IEMA or similar) or actively working towards Chartership.

Consultancy skills
• Ability to communicate effectively to stakeholders at all levels
• Excellent organisation and project management skills
• Strong analytical and research skills and associated analytical tools
• Delivery of high-quality reports, case studies, presentations and training materials, etc.
• Client facing skills including expert advice during meetings and business development
• Take a thoughtful approach to their work and embrace creative approaches to delivery

Desirable Skills & Experience:
• Tracker+ or other tools for BREEAM assessments
• Interest in nature-based solutions and biodiversity
• Knowledge of Environment Act and Waste Regulations
• Knowledge of Home Quality Mark
• Knowledge of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)
• Knowledge of Doughnut Economics and planetary boundaries
