Nuclear Restoration Services Limited (NRS) is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). NRS is responsible for decommissioning first generation nuclear power stations Berkeley, Bradwell, Chapelcross, Dungeness A, Hinkley Point A, Hunterston A, Oldbury, Sizewell A, Trawsfynydd and Wylfa, and research sites Harwell and Winfrith. NRS is also responsible for electricity generation at hydroelectric plant Maentwrog. As a division of NRS, NRS Dounreay is responsible for the clean-up and demolition of the former centre of fast reactor research and development.

This role is a permanent site-based position at Hunterston A site.
Please note the contractual working hours for this role are 07.30 - 17.15 Monday - Thursday, perfect for someone looking for a four day working week.
Key Deliverables:
- Provide authoritative advice, support and guidance to the site to ensure compliance with relevant non-radioactive environmental legislation while enabling delivery of site targets.
- Maintain the required regulatory approvals as appropriate.
- Ensure that adequate records are maintained to meet statutory and Company requirements.
- Advise on, and maintain a register of, Environmental aspects and impacts.
- Develop and manage the Site Improvement Plan for environmental management.
- Monitor performance and take action or provide advice as necessary to maintain standards and improve performance.
- Identify good practice in performance at sites and externally; promote and deploy across the Functions/Sites.
- Support the management of land contamination plans as required.
- Provide advice, support and guidance to the site to ensure compliance with sites Environmental Authorisations Scotland Regulations 2018 permit (EA(S)R18 permit).
Training and Authorisations:
- The successful candidate will be required to complete training and hold various authorisations in order to carry out the full scope of the role. Training, coaching, development and support will be provided in order to achieve this.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Educated to at least SCQF level 9 / NQF level 6 (or equivalent in an environmental, scientific or engineering discipline) (essential).
- Member of a relevant professional institute (essential).
- Relevant experience in an environmental related role (essential).
- Detailed knowledge of relevant non-radioactive environmental legislation (essential).
- Relevant experience in nuclear or similarly regulated industry (desirable). #INDOR

- Flexible working – where possible.
- The equivalent of 25 days (185 hours per year) annual leave plus Public Holidays (59.2 hours per year). This increases by 2 days (14.8 hours per year) annual leave after two full calendar years of service (as at 5th January in the leave year) , and an additional 3 days (22.2 hours per year) annual leave after five full calendar years of service (as at 5th January in the leave year). You also have the option to buy or sell the equivalent of 5 days (37 hours) annual leave each year (available in specific windows for the following holiday year). For the purpose of assessing an employee’s annual leave entitlement, a day means seven and two fifths (7.4) hours. A pro rata entitlement will apply for part time workers.

There is a requirement to live within a commutable distance to the sites where the role is based. For central/multi-site roles, we have various hubs across the UK and can be flexible with base location.
