Due to business growth, Balfour Beatty has created a new role for a Social Impact Advisor to support our PT&D business. The role will report into Senior ES Manager – Business Development, and work closely with the Head of Sustainability PT&D, alongside the central Social Impact team.

What you'll be doing

  • Develop the social impact strategy across the business unit to support project bids and tenders. Including, conducting research, providing local intelligence information, developing and reviewing Social Impact related responses for tenders, identifying resource and budget requirements and attending work winning interviews with clients.
  • Working closely with the commercial team to ensure Social Impact budgets are utilised effectively.
  • Support the ongoing communication of Balfour Beatty’s Social Impact achievements through the work winning team and wider business.
  • Pitch social value offers to clients, take on their feedback and drive a plan for implementation.
  • Responsible for aligning and actioning initiatives and deliverables with the Balfour Beatty Sustainability framework throughout the process including the preconstruction and work winning teams and plan to support mobilisation of operational readiness.
  • Responsible for the creation and development of Social Impact proposals for sector clients.
  • Regularly review intelligence data to ensure the social impact plan continues to deliver the impact required and identify opportunities for additional impact.
  • Work in collaboration with the Balfour Beatty Group Social Impact team to support Group programmes and deliver Group Social Impact requirements.
  • Provide support to the procurement, estimating and commercial teams as required.
  • Work collaboratively with the responsible sourcing team, ensuring that any client or project specific requirements are communicated and deliverable.
  • Utilising appropriate tools, identify and agree social impact commitments and ensure KPIs are cascaded to the supply chain via Procurement and Commercial teams.
  • Providing data as required for clients.
  • Identify and engage with charities, community groups and not for profits organisations, ensuring these are aligned with Balfour Beatty’s group policy and support the delivery of both the clients’ requirements and Balfour Beatty Group or Regional initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with relevant stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of Social Impact initiatives.

Who we're looking for

  • As a key member of the Balfour Beatty PT&D work winning team the role must work closely and collaboratively with the Balfour Beatty Group Social Impact team to deliver group requirements and support the development of enhanced social impact processes and work programmes.
  • A proven track record of successfully developing social impact plans and delivering social impact aligned with local and regional requirements.
  • Ability to influence procurement and commercial colleagues and effectively communicate the advantages of embedding social impact criteria and KPI’s within supply chain tenders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to measure and evaluate the impact of social impact initiatives using quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Ability to consider sustainability holistically.
