In this episode we speak to Thomas Kankam about his path from attending the Cartagena Dialogue held in Ghana to becoming the UNEP National Project Coordinator (NPC) at the Environmental Protection Agency of Ghana. Thomas Kankam Adjei is a climate and energy policy analyst. Over the last seven years he has served on several technical committees and projects including voluntary activities relating to agriculture, trade, climate change and energy. He has the experience of working for both private sector and public sector institutions including collaborations with international development organizations. He is currently the UNEP National Project Coordinator (NPC) at the Environmental Protection Agency of Ghana, focused on the implementation of Ghana’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) under the Paris Climate Agreement in two priority sectors of climate smart agriculture and e-mobility. Thomas has also been published in academic journals and written open editorials in newspapers in Ghana and abroad respectively, covering topics on climate change, resilience building post-covid, the sustainable development goals and public-private partnerships. Thomas is an alumni of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he earned his undergraduate and post graduate degrees in climate science and sustainable energy management respectively. He is also a professional member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA-UK).
