This webinar looked at an advance preview of the thought piece on the topic of smart living which considers several key focus areas including energy, smart agriculture, sustainable transport and infrastructure due for release in Q1 of 2021 from the IEMA Fellows Network. Cities consume over two-thirds of the world’s energy and account for more than 70% of global CO2 emissions. Combined with a growing world urban population (expect to increase from 55% today to 68% by 2050), this activity and increasing pressures on our natural resources is putting people and the planet at risk. Researchers, entrepreneurs, and businesses have responded to global issues such as climate change by combining domain expertise, various data sources, and machine learning and AI to not only better understand the science behind climate change, but also innovate across a variety of sectors in urban settings to support a smarter way of living. For their second project on disruptive technologies, the IEMA Fellows Network is developing a thought piece on the topic of smart living which considers several key focus areas including energy, smart agriculture, sustainable transport and infrastructure (due for release in Q1 of 2021). During this webinar attendees gained: - An advance preview of the draft findings; - Case study insights from experts in the public health and agricultural sectors; - An understanding of the key challenges and opportunities in using tech for sustainability.
