At this event, we looked at the issue of sustainable food sourcing. Supermarkets source vegetables from all over the world which can add significantly to their carbon footprint and yet seasonal and local produce are promoted as more sustainable alternatives that support UK growers but perceived cost and lack of availability are considered obstacles by consumers. We were joined by: Jon Barfoot Founder of veg delivery company Boxxfresh, who will discuss Sustainable food deliveries, supply chain impacts and alternatives available with sustainable transport and minimal packaging. Sam Watts from the Winchester Food Partnership, who will discuss the Winchester Veg City programme and benefits of community growing including low cost vegetables, fresh food and increased wellbeing. This event was organised in conjunction with Southampton Green Drinks and included a chance for networking and Q&A at the end of the session. *This event is recognised as 1 hour of IEMA CPD
