IEMA Diploma

Introduction

The IEMA Diploma in Environmental Management has been established to support delegates requiring a high level environmental qualification. It has been specifically designed to support those individuals wishing to progress their IEMA membership from the Associate to Full member level.

The Diploma builds on the knowledge and understanding gained through completion of IEMA Associate membership, broadening an individual’s knowledge and understanding beyond their immediate role or sector.

Completion of all three modules of the diploma is necessary to be awarded the IEMA Diploma in Environmental Management. Completion of the Diploma will also provide delegates with the key knowledge and understanding requirements required for Full membership of the IEMA.

The Diploma has been based on the level six descriptors of the NQF (National Qualification Framework).

Modules

The three modules consist of:

  1. Managing Environmental Aspects and Impacts;
  2. Strategic Environmental Management;
  3. Leading and Managing Change.

Delegates will be awarded a certificate for each module that is successfully completed. This certificate will be provided by the IEMA. After successful completion of all modules of the Diploma, the IEMA will award a certificate for the achievement of the IEMA Diploma in Environmental Management.

Candidate Requirements

In order to be considered to participate on the IEMA Diploma, delegates must be an IEMA Associate member (AIEMA).

Assessment

Assessment methods will be set by the Training Organisations but must meet, as a minimum, the following criteria.

  • Each module will be assessed independently of other modules.
  • The assessment will include the production of assignments which require candidates to apply the knowledge they have gained to a practical situation, to test understanding.
  • Examinations may be used, both open and closed book. If this is the chosen assessment method, the examinations must be undertaken under the conditions set by the Training organisation.
  • Practical exercises may be used as part of the assessment.
