Abstract:

The data acquisition unit processes a wide range of navigational and operational data to assist the safe and efficient management of seagoing vessels. Information from global positioning systems and satellite navigation systems is used to track a vessel's exact location on an electronic chart display system. Charts are stored on computer and can be updated via satellite to provide the very latest maritime information.
