Title:Bridging the Gap Between Land & Sea: The North West Regional Coastal Strategy 2008 – 2032
Organisation:North West Coastal Forum
Issued:Tue 21 October 2008
Deadline: 19 December 2008
Status: CLOSED Consultation is closed for comments
Synopsis:This Strategy is a non-statutory document designed as a resource for all involved in policy, planning and management of the North West’s coast. It is intended to provide a framework for action, providing a link between policy contained in the major regional strategies and sub-regional and local-level delivery at the coast. It aims to bridge the gap between land and sea and has been prepared as a first step in integration between terrestrial and marine spatial planning but is not limited to spatial planning matters, it takes in the broader issues of effective and sustainable long-term management of this valuable geographic area and resource. It has been prepared for the region by the North West Coastal Forum and should be regarded as a regional document, rather than a solely North West Coastal Forum document. Accordingly it is important that this strategy reflects the needs and aspirations of the region as a whole, so we would welcome your comments on this consultation draft.
The IEMA are planning to provide a response to this consultation. We are seeking comments from our members particularly from the North West Region of England to compile our response. Any member wishing to respond will find the details on the North West Regions discussion forum on the IEMA website.
