Synopsis:This is a consultation on ways in which Heathrow airport could be developed over the next 20 years or more. It reports on the outcome of work since the Air Transport White Paper in 2003 and describes how additional runway capacity might be provided, its likely impacts and how they might be addressed.

The IEMA will respond to this consultation, but our response will focus on the methods used to assess environmental impacts.

We are not looking to provide a consolidated Member response. But we have signposted it on our consultation website as it might be of interest to our Members.

The main consultation document is presented with an executive summary as a series of downloadable chapters (4) and annexes (7). The complete consultation document is 77 Mb. The chapter on environmental issues is 40Mb! The link to the consultation document is presented below:
