Title:Environment Agency: Consultation on proposed Environmental Protection charges for 2008/09
Organisation:Environment Agency
Issued:Fri 14 September 2007
Deadline: 07 December 2007
Status: CLOSED Consultation is closed for comments
Synopsis:The Environment Agency are required by the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, to recover the costs of their main regulatory services from the companies they regulate. They review charging schemes annually to ensure they are recovering our costs, and that their charges are as fair as possible. They consult with stakeholders before making any changes to their schemes and their responses then form part of their submission to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for approval in consultation with the Welsh Assembly Government and HM Treasury. The document sets out their proposals for the following charging schemes from the 1 April 2008: Environmental Permitting (replacing Waste Management Licensing and Pollution Prevention and Control); Radioactive Substances Act Regulation (RAS); EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS); and Integrated Pollution Control (IPC).
