| Synopsis: | The purpose of this Consultation is to formally seek the views of stakeholders' and other interested parties on the proposals for amending the exisitng Regulations referred to above to satisfy the provisions of the Public Participation Directive. |
Background to consultation
The Public Participation Directive 2003/35/EC implements the 1998 Aarhus Convention for increased public access to environmental information and greater participation in the environmental decision-making process.
These requirements of the Directive affect two Regulations administered by DTI, Energy Development Unit (EDU) for the offshore oil and gas industry namely - the Offshore Petroleum Production and Pipe-lines (Assessment of Environmental Effects) Regulations 1999; and the 'Offshore Combustion Installations (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Regulations 2001'
