Abstract:

I find it very hard to get my head around what we are facing, and I wonder sometimes if we, as human beings, are capable of understanding what the figures we keep hearing mean. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) tells us that we are looking at between 1.4 and 5.8 degrees centigrade of warming this century. Well, we know what the figures mean but it is very hard to make any sense of them. Some scientists say that we are looking at ten or 12 degrees of warming this century. Again, it just sounds like an alteration in your bath water.
