Position Statement - Climate Change

This position statement aims to build awareness and appreciation of the scale and urgency of the challenge of climate change, the diversity of implications and the unique importance of the environmental profession.

IEMA produced the statement building on recent member engagement across many climate change topics (from carbon reduction through to action on adapting to the consequences of climate change).

Members worked to support IEMA in its early scoping and framing and also in providing professional review of the initial draft (made available to all IEMA members for consultation in November 2011).

IEMA will continue to engage with environment and sustainability practitioners, learning from their experience and supporting them to promote high standards, effective action, best practice and thought leadership. We will work with Government and other organisations to address barriers and to support action on climate change.
