Job satisfaction is high but pay rises are low for environmentalists

Careers in the environment are stimulating and rewarding despite some pay freezes and even cuts, according to the results of IEMA’s recent Environmental Practitioner Survey.
The results, which were published in the second IEMA Special Report in mid-February, demonstrate that environmental professionals are largely happy in their jobs and feel able to make a real difference to their organisation and the rest of society given their green skills.
The survey was carried out amongst IEMA’s UK-based members and readers of The ENDS Report in late 2009 and the results now reveal the current profile of the environment as a career at a time when the UK economy is just emerging from the recession.
