As the environmental profession develops, it will become even more vital to demonstrate to employers, colleagues and clients that you are leading by example and committed to placing the environment at the heart of change.
Student to Graduate
If you have recently graduated, you will automatically be upgraded to Graduate membership. Please get in touch to ensure we have your graduation or completion date.
Student or Graduate to Associate (AIEMA)
If your studies have involved an environmental or related discipline you should take part in an Associate Open Book Assessment. These take place three times per year and you can apply at any time. Please visit Associate for more details.
Affiliate to Associate (AIEMA)
If you do not have an environmental background or access to sources of environmental information for research, you will find the Associate Membership Certificate Course the ideal route for you to achieve Associate Membership. If you have an environmental background and access to resources for the purposes of research, you may find the Associate Open Book Assessment the route for you. Go to Associate for more information on how to apply.
Associate (AIEMA) to Full Membership (MIEMA)
If you have at least three years relevant full-time experience and Associate Membership (AIEMA) you will be eligible to apply for Full membership.
Your experience needs to be relevant experience and you will be assessed against the Full membership Competence Criteria. Assessment takes place by writing a Short Paper about how you meet the criteria, a copy of your CV and a completed application form. This will be followed by a telephone interview.

Affiliate to Full Membership (MIEMA)
If you have 7 or more years of relevant environmental experience you may be eligible to upgrade your Affiliate membership.
