Full Membership of IEMA represents a professional standard of knowledge, understanding and experience in the fields of environmental management and assessment.
A Full Member of IEMA is typically an environmental professional and practitioner that contributes most of their worktime to the goal of sustainable development and that give their time to increase and improve the environmental knowledge and practice of their business, clients, staff and/or industry.
Successful candidates will be entitled to use the suffix MIEMA to show that they are highly knowledgeable and experienced environmental professionals.

The assessment for Full Membership entails a written application and an interview with two Full Membership Assessors.
The success rate for Full membership applicants in 2007 was 67%

The Professional Standards department offer a free review of draft short papers. Advice will be given on areas where the short paper can be improved upon prior to submission within a completed application. Please email draft short papers for review to professional.standards@iema.net
Full Members of IEMA are required to sign up to a code of practice. Item five of the code of practice requires you to develop and maintain standards of professional competence and knowledge through a combination of training, learning and practical experience.
As part of IEMA’s commitment to ensuring that the code of practice is being followed, we require Full Members to submit evidence of CPD (Continuing Professional Development) on an annual basis. At present IEMA is not prescriptive on the amount of CPD required, but it does require evidence of CPD undertaken. CPD submissions will be monitored and recorded

Membership Workshops are held prior to each assessment. They provide an opportunity to obtain tips and guidance on how to approach the assessment. These workshops are extremely popular and are FREE to members.
