Membership and qualifications awarded by the Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment (IEMA) have been further recognised as professionally valuable now that higher level membership grades are formally recognised by the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS).
Full and Fellow members of the IEMA who work in, or have experience of, the construction sector now have the opportunity to achieve the CSCS Platinum level card for Environmental Manager (Construction). This card is increasingly being demanded as proof of competence by major industry organisations, employers, clients and by the Government. It can be used to ensure the competence of new employees and sub-contractors. Card holders also become entitled to use the ‘Committed to CSCS’ logo on their stationery, which demonstrates at yet another level the holder’s competence and professional standing.
Chairman of the IEMA and CSCS cardholder Ian Housley recognises the value of the being able to demonstrate skills with the card. “Over the past five years since first getting my CSCS card, I have found that it is an ideal method of exhibiting on-site experience and competence. Having worked in a company where it is encouraged to be a CSCS cardholder, I can advocate the recognition, usefulness and convenience that this brings.”
The IEMA is the only professional body route for achieving the Environmental Manager (Construction) CSCS card, further demonstrating that IEMA membership is professionally recognised and viewed as the watermark of high standards across the environmental industry.
Claire Lea, Director of Membership Services at the IEMA says “The IEMA is delighted to be recognised by the CSCS as the only professional route to achieving the Platinum level card for Environmental Manager (Construction). This is further recognition of the Institute’s professional qualifications and an excellent step forward for the environmental profession.”
