INSTITUTE OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT & ASSESSMENT
IEMA Jobs

20th April 2010 – ANNOUNCEMENT:

IEMA is currently undertaking work to substantially improve the “Registered Assessor” scheme (see below). As a consequence the Application and Renewal processes for the “Registered Assessor” scheme have been placed ‘on-hold’ from today and no new applications will be accepted at this time.

The improved scheme will be re-launched on Tuesday 2nd November 2010 at IEMA’s National Conference - Environment and Business: The challenge and the opportunity. If you are interested in pre-registration for an application in November please contact Jacqueline Stainton (Technical Team Administrator) on:

  • or email j.stainton@iema.net
  • The value of “Registered Assessor” status

    IEMA operates a “Registered Assessor” Scheme allowing organisations to demonstrate their commitment to quality EIA work. The improved register will provide an independent check of an organisation’s EIA activities and will be a means by which they can demonstrate current performance and on-going assurance of effective practice.

    The improved register will be based on an organisation’s commitment to a range of EIA activities and wider actions that the Institute has identified as key to the delivery of effective and efficient EIA practice, based on our experience in the field of EIA. Once an organisation becomes registered to the improved scheme their on-going performance will be regularly checked to ensure they continue to meet the required standards. IEMA will have a pro-active relationship with those organisations registered to the improved scheme, which will include working with them to enhance EIA practice.

    Some of the anticipated benefits of improved “Registered Assessor “scheme

    The benefits of the improved Registered Assessor Membership are anticipated to be:

  • An independent check on your organisation’s overall commitment to good quality EIA practice and practitioners;
  • The ability to demonstrate to potential clients your organisation’s quality in the field of EIA, with related marketing prestige and a competitive advantage when bidding for EIA work;
  • A pro-active relationship with IEMA, and via the Institute, contact with other Registered Assessor Members, to ensure you stay up-date with developments in the field;
  • The opportunity to work with IEMA in both identifying the need for improved advice on aspects of EIA practice and developing new guidance to improve your performance;
  • Use of IEMA logo and declaration of Registered Membership status on your documentation, including letterhead and other publicity material;
  • Identification of an organisation’s Registered Membership status on Institute referral lists.
  • Who can apply?

    Corporate Members of IEMA who undertake EIA within their core activities can apply for Registered Assessor Membership. As indicated above the application process for the Registered Assessor scheme is currently on-hold as we develop and pilot the application process for the improved scheme.

    If you are interested in pre-registration for an application to the improved register in November 2010, or would like further information about the development of the improved scheme, please contact:
