Free technical help-line: The help-line is provided by Institute staff with particular expertise in Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Management Systems and Environmental Auditing. Advice and sign posting to additional sources of help can usually be provided immediately, but further sources - such as the Institute library, Internet and membership networking - can quickly be accessed if more specialised advice is required. Reduced Rate for Technical Staff Time: The IEMA offers a number of specialist services (please visit Technical Services for more information). As a Corporate Member you receive a significantly discounted rate for these services. In addition to the specialist services listed, IEMA technical staff can be contracted to complete other tasks, providing they fall into our core areas of expertise. Nationwide access to regional networking events: Events are an integral part of IEMA Membership and provide many opportunities for networking, best practice advice, CPD and further development. All corporate members are able to nominate an employee to participate in any of the IEMA's regional events. Please visit Regions & Events for more information.
Free or discounted publications: The Institute produces a number of publications, including reports and guidelines on best practice, which are available free or at a reduced price. Members are also entitled to at least five free subscriptions to the Institute's flagship magazine, 'the environmentalist'.
Free access to postal and reference library: The Institute library contains a wide range of information on Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Management Systems and Environmental Auditing. This includes over 1,000 Environmental Impact Statements, Corporate Environmental Policies, EMAS Statements, conference proceedings, research papers and a range of other documents. Free Entry onto the Referral Database: We maintain a database of information on the skills and experience of consultancies. This database is searched by individuals or organisations that are looking for environmental specialists. As a Corporate Member you get your details included on this database for free. This database will be searchable through our web site very soon.
Course Content Guidance: Advice is available on the content of education and training courses, and assistance can be provided with development and content of courses or modules in environmental impact assessment, environmental auditing and environmental management systems. Guidance is already provided on a number of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Assistance is available at a reduced rate to members.
Speakers and Speaker Referrals: Institute speakers are provided at a reduced rate to members. Contact details can be provided for expert speakers for specialised courses.
Working parties formulating best practice guidelines: Members are routinely consulted in the production of Institute guidelines and have the opportunity to become members of Institute working parties and influence best practice. To-date working parties have developed guidelines for environmental impact assessment, the environmental assessment of road traffic, landscape and visual impact assessment, baseline ecological assessment, and public participation. Currently guidelines for noise impact assessment are being developed and will be published in 2006.
