How to write a Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Writing and maintaining an up-to-date CV is very important. A CV markets an individual as professional and it should be written with the aim of differentiating the individual from the rest of the candidates.

A CV should include:

  • Name and full address
  • A list of your key/core skills/professional memberships
  • Relevant work experience
  • Qualifications
  • Interests and hobbies
  • At least two references (preferably one professional and one personal)

A CV should be a maximum of two sides of A4 and be written to match the job being applied for. For a candidate applying for an environmental role, it is important to include details of field trips, voluntary work and interests outside of the workplace.
