Recruiter Profile: Thames Water

We are the UK's biggest supplier of water and sewerage services. It's our job to supply more than eight million customers' water, and remove and treat sewage for over 13.5 million.

We need to ensure people across London and the Thames Valley can turn on the tap and rely on top-quality drinking water, day and night.  And, whatever is discharged into the public sewers, our role is to make certain it's safely transported and properly treated.

That's a major responsibility - and we face new challenges in the future, in the shape of population growth, climate change and new legislation.

That means, of course, that we welcome the best in engineering talent.  For example, we are currently extending London's Ring Main, which supplies much of the capital. We are also investing in several major projects to reduce the risk of flooding to local homes.

But our people don't all work with water or sewage. For example, we have over 800 staff in our contact centre, which handles four million enquiries per year. We also have people who specialise in other aspects of the water industry, including regulation and the environment.

As you'd expect, we rely too on a wide range of employees whose skills are required by any major business - among them, experts in finance, law, IT, and property.
