United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS)

In the UK, UKAS is the sole national accreditation body recognised by government to assess, against international agreed standards, organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services.

UKAS provide EMS accreditation for:

• ISO 14001 (ISO/IEC Guide 66 General Requirements for bodies operating assessment/registration of environmental management systems)
• EMAS (Environmental Verifier in accordance with EMAS: Council Regulation (EC) No. 761/2001: March 2001)
• Acorn (Type A Inspection Body Accredited to ISO/IEC 17020:1998)
