The EMAS Regulation
The EMAS Regulation (761/2001) was officially adopted by the Council of the European Union and by the European Parliament on 19 March 2001. The Regulation was published in the Official Journal of the European Communities on 24th April 2001 and came into force three days later. The European Commission has also published official guidance to support the implementation of EMAS, in the form of a Decision and a Recommendation.
