Speakers:
Dr Miklas Scholz, CEnv, CSci, CEng, MICE, FHEA, FCIWEM, FIEMA is the internationally leading expert on Sustainable Flood Retention Basins, author of the recent Elsevier book on Wetland Systems to Control Urban Runoff and a Senior Lecturer in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Mr. William McMinn, CBiol, MBiol is a research assistant working on the European Regional Development Fund Interreg IVB project Strategic Alliance for Integrated Water Management Actions. He worked previously for SEPA as a senior environmental chemist.
Ms. Qinli Yang is a PhD student assessing flood retention structures in Scotland.
The team will present their latest Scottish case studies on Sustainable Flood Retention Basins used for flood and diffuse pollution control. The focus will be on the implementation of the new Scottish Flood Risk Management Bill (executing the EU Flood Directive) and on adaptive measures used for sustainable runoff retention, treatment and infiltration on a catchment basin scale. The content will be of interest to a wide audience including consultants, contractors, regulators, local authority representatives and academics working in the areas of planning and development, environmental engineering and science, river engineering and water science.
